WWE Star Becoming Free Agent Update

WWE Star Becoming Free Agent Update WWE

After his surprising departure announcement, a new report has revealed an update on WWE star Damon Kemp becoming a free agent.

On July 7, WWE NXT star Damon Kemp took to social media to announce that he is no longer under contract with WWE.

Kemp, real name Bobby Steveson and brother of Gable Steveson, signed with WWE in August 2021 and has been part of the No Quarter Catch Crew faction with Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne and recent addition Tavion Heights on the NXT brand.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Damon Kemp is still technically under contract with WWE for the next five weeks.

The report notes that sources with knowledge of the contract situation have confirmed that this was a contract expiration for Kemp and a decision by WWE to not renew.

This was not a release from an ongoing deal with the company and there will be no 30-day non-compete clause in tact.

Steveson’s three-year contract will expire on August 13, 2024, at which point he can start working anywhere, but he was given the word this week that they were not offering him a new deal.

The report also notes that this news of WWE not renewing his deal surprised several in the company.

Kemp was always praised regarding his work ethic since he arrived and “did well” according to the report.

WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on Damon Kemp’s WWE departure when they become available.
