WWE Star Comments On Dead Brother Being Used In Storyline WWE

A WWE star has commented on their brother’s real-life death being brought up as part of a storyline on Raw.

In March 2024, Candice LeRae cemented a heel turn by bringing up Maxxine Dupri’s brother, Wyatt Zmrzel, who passed away in 2017 following an automobile accident.

During a tag match that saw Dupri team with Ivy Nile against LeRae and Hartwell, LeRae said to Dupri:

“It’s a good job your dead brother isn’t here to see what an embarrassment you are.”

In a new interview with Gorilla Position, Dupri has now commented on her brother being brought in that fashion, saying:

“I was okay with that. I know that there was a lot of narrative around it. The way that I saw it was, good or bad, I get to include my brother in something. So for me it was like, I was okay with that.

“I did make the terrible mistake of not telling my parents first. But she (Candice) didn’t have a mic, so I was like… I don’t know, we’ll just see what happens. Yeah, I should have done that. That would have been a kind daughter thing to do. But aside from that, I was okay with that moment.

“It’s something that me and Otis talk about a lot because he lost his sister. It’s definitely one of those things that, good or bad, you do connect with people over. It is nice, in a weird way, to have experienced grief and be able to lend a hand to someone.”
