A WWE star is set to take an “extended leave of absence” from the company following tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event show on NBC.
The penultimate match of the night was a steel cage match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre, which saw Priest score the win.
Priest hit McIntyre with a con-chair-to, leaving the Scot laid out in the ring as Priest simply walked out of the cage door to win the match.
Ahead of the match, McIntyre had commented that he’s been working banged up recently, which included a bad landing at Backlash when his head hit the floor from the South of Heaven by Priest off of a platform through tables below.
PWInsider Elite is now reporting, following the cage match tonight, that McIntyre is taking an “extended leave of absence” from WWE.
He’s set to take an “extended period” off TV and won’t be around for the “forseeable future”.
There’s been talk of late that McIntyre could be set to get involved in a big Hollywood project some time soon, but it was noted that this leave of absence is not related to that, and it’s just a case of McIntyre taking some “personal time off”.
