WWE Star Recalls Being An Extra In Spider-Man Homecoming Marvel Studios

A WWE star has recalled the story of being an extra during the post credits scene of Marvel’s Spider-Man Homecoming.

Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man Homecoming was released back in 2017, being the first movie of what would become a trilogy of Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker as the star.

As is tradition for most Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Homecoming featured a post credits scene, featuring Michael Keaton’s Vulture in prison, where he was confronted by Mac Gargan, played by Michael Mando, which was intended to set up a plot point for a future movie.

However, during the scene, eagle-eyed wrestling fans have spotted a blink and you’ll miss it cameo from former WWE United States Champion Austin Theory, who appeared on screen for a second as a prisoner.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Theory recalled filming for the role in Georgia’s Jackson prison, saying:

“That was a crazy day. They were actually in the Jackson prison in Georgia. We went down there. We put on prisoner outfits and everything, and they said, Hey, make sure when we tell you guys to line up and you’re walking to not touch the bars, do not encourage the inmates, because the inmates were yelling at us. They were wild, yeah, yeah. So this was real.

“And then we’re in two lines. So one line’s walking this way down the hall, and one’s going this way. And then you have the scene with Michael Keaton, and you can see me walk right by real quick. And a couple of people have caught it online. Maybe they bring me back in the Marvel Universe.”

Despite the movie releasing seven years ago, the plot point involving Gargan and Vulture has not been followed up on in any of the subsequent movies.
