WWE star Finn Balor competed in his first independent wrestling match in 10 years along with tag team partner JD McDonagh.
As was announced earlier this year, The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh made their long-awaited return to Ireland to compete at Over The Top Wrestling’s 10th anniversary show in Dublin last night (October 26).
The reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions competed against The Social Elite (Matthew Smyth & Sean Guinness) in their indie return at the National Stadium.
As can be seen below in footage captured by Fightful’s Corey Brennan, Balor and McDonagh’s Irish homecoming received a rapturous response from the Dublin crowd, with the WWE stars picking up the win in the bout.
Afterwards JD McDonagh took to Twitter to comment on the experience, calling it one of the most “special” nights of his and Balor’s careers.
McDonagh wrote:
OTT, until we meet again, thank you for one of the most special nights in both of our careers.
We’ll catch you again down the road. @OTT_wrestling FOREVER.
Grá Mór
With Balor signing with WWE in 2014, the same year as Over The Top Wrestling was formed, last night’s match was his first for the promotion.
McDonagh on the other hand has a storied history with OTT, competing regularly for them between 2014-2019, winning the OTT World Championship on two occasions.
