‘I Gotta Prove To Myself I Can’ – WWE Star Reveals First-Ever Singles Championship Goal WWE

On the 20th anniversary of their career, a WWE star has opened up about their goal to finally capture a singles championship in the company.

In a special video uploaded to Twitter, Woods reflected on the past 20 years of his career – from his beginnings as Consequences Creed in TNA, to his time in FCW, forming The New Day in WWE and capturing the King of the Ring crown in 2021.

Whilst discussing the solo accomplishments of his fellow New Day members Kofi Kingston and Big E – who both captured the WWE Championship  in 2019 and 2021 respectively – Woods opened up on his desire to finally capture singles gold of his own in the company.

Woods said:

“I’ve been able to see my brothers Big E and Kofi both go on to become heavyweight champion. I got to fulfil my boyhood dream of becoming King of the Ring.

“And the reason that was so important to me is through the entirety of my career there are certain doors that have been closed to me by myself, and I always figured winning King of the Ring was my way to open those doors that I could previously not get into.

“But I ended up winning King of the Ring and all of those doors are still shut to me for whatever reason.

“And so, 20 years deep there’s still things that I want to do, there’s still things that I have to do, honestly. And at the top of that list is becoming a singles champion in WWE. I gotta prove to myself I can do it, I have to.”

While it remains to be seen whether it will happen, a split between himself and Kofi Kingston is something that has been teased recently on WWE TV.

Since moving to WWE Raw in the 2024 Draft, The Final Testament’s Karrion Kross has been making claims that Kingston is holding Woods back.

In fact Kross even uploaded a 13 minute case study on Kingston, pointing out ‘evidence’ of the former WWE Champion’s “narcissistic” and “psychopathic” tendencies – click here for full details.
