There has been an update on plans for a former AEW star’s impending WWE debut, including what brand they’re expected to appear on going forward.
According to PWInsider Elite (via Cultaholic), former AEW World Tag Team & Trios Champion Penta will be debuting on WWE Raw against Chad Gable as the Olympian’s ‘mystery opponent’ on January 13.
While the most recent tease for Penta’s debut on the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere confirmed this, the report did reveal that Penta will be joining the Raw roster moving beyond Monday’s show.
As Triple H ran down the card for second episode of Raw set to be broadcast on Netflix, he mentioned that fans and media alike had probably “already figured out,” who Gable’s opponent would be.
Although Penta is set to debut as a singles competitor, reports suggest that this was not the original plan for the former TNA World Champion.
In the Summer reports stated that Penta and his real-life brother Rey Fenix were set to dsign for WWE at the same time when their respective AEW contracts expired towards the end of 2024.
However, while Penta’s deal would expire, Fenix instead saw his deal extended due to injury time, leaving Penta heading to WWE as a solo act for now.
