WWE Star Now A ‘Free Agent’

WWE Star Now A ‘Free Agent’ WWE

A new update has emerged regarding the WWE roster status of a former NXT Champion following his recent main roster appearances.

In late 2025, Oba Femi began making apearances on WWE main roster TV, including facing Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

Soon after, he relinquished the NXT Championship, officially signifying his full call-up to the main roster.

His official call-up came in the 2026 Royal Rumble match, where he entered #1, scored five eliminations and lasted almost 40 minutes.

He’s since appeared on both Raw and SmackDown, laying out the War Raiders on Raw and Kit Wilson on SmackDown.

In a new update on his status, the official WWE roster page now lists Femi in the free agent section of the roster.

The only other names who are listed as free agents, and have been for a long time now, are Brock Lesnar and Omos.

Even for the other NXT stars who have been called up to the main roster recently and have split time between Raw and SmackDown before settling on one specific brand, the roster page tends to just keep them listed on the NXT roster until their specific brand is chosen.

That means there has been a specific decision with Femi to list him as a free agent that marks a change from the usual protocol with NXT call-ups.

We’ll keep you posted with any further updates, but it appears the plan for the time being is for Femi to appear on both Raw and SmackDown as opposed to signing with one particular brand.
