A current WWE champion has opened up on a full circle moment with John Cena ahead of their upcoming WWE PLE debut.
The competitors for this year’s Iron Survivor matches at NXT Deadline were hand chosen by seventeen-time world champion John Cena ahead of his retirement next weekend.
On the men’s side, Cena chose Joe Hendry, Je’von Evans, Leon Slater, Dion Lennox and the winner of Trick Williams vs. Myles Borne, which Borne ended up winning.
On the women’s side Cena chose Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Lola Vice, Sol Ruca and WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey.
Speaking to Kelly Kincaid ahead of the show, Kendal opened up on the full circle moment of Cena picking her for the match.
She said:
“I’m speechless, I’m excited. It doesn’t even feel real. It’s a full circle moment, because growing up I used to watch John Cena. I have a picture when I was like 8 years old at a SmackDown event that my dad took me to with a You Can’t See Me chain.
“But it’s like a full circle moment, now he’s picking me to be in the Iron Survivor. Growing up I always tried to be better than my brother at all sports, you could say that competitive might be my middle name, because of that I did everything. Soccer, gymnastics, MMA, wrestling, the list goes on.
“All I ever told myself was the phrase that the GOAT inspired in me; never give up, never back down, and to know that John Cena is watching my work, it’s crazy, but also validating. Now I have to prove that I belong in the Iron Survivor.”
