Popular WWE Star Believes Heel Turn Saved Their Career WWE

Former multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Bayley has explained how 2019 heel turn saved her career.

During her run in NXT, Bayley became one of the brand’s most popular babyfaces thanks to her relatable wrestling fan character.

After seven years as a babyface, the former NXT Women’s Champion turned heel for the first time in 2019.

Debuting a new look and destroying her Bayley Buddies, “The Role Model” revitalised her career with the heel turn and remained a heel until early 2024.

In a new interview with Pro Wrestling Experience, Bayley discussed the character change from 2019. She said:

“I think about times like during the pandemic, I don’t know if that character would have been able to last through the pandemic and have the type of success that I did then.

“So I always credit them (for) allowing me to have that moment and them allowing me to explore my growth because I didn’t feel that what I was doing at the time was gonna extend my career any longer.

“So I knew I needed to turn that page and just make something different happen.”

Bayley last wrestled in a triple threat win over B-Fab and Candice LeRae in the first round of the WWE Women’s United States Championship Tournament on the November 15 edition of SmackDown.

The former WWE Women’s Champion shared a heartwarming message for B-Fab after a recent loss, which you can read at this link here.
