A WWE star has expressed his wish to feature in John Cena’s ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament to determine the 17-time world champion’s final ever opponent.
First announced at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, John Cena’s ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament is currently being held to determine who will stand across teh ring from Cena in his last ever match at the next instalment of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington D.C. on December 13.
This past Monday’s Raw saw Rusev and Sheamus book their tickets in the quarter finals of the tournament, defeating Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura respectively, while tonight’s SmackDown in Albany, NY will see Jey Uso face off with The Miz and LA Knight take on a mystery opponent in another pair of first round matches.
One star not yet announced to be competing in the tournament is R-Truth, someone who faced off with Cena several times throughout the heel portion of his WWE farewell tour.
Speaking with the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, R-Truth said he hopes to be picked for the tournament, before expressing how awesome the opportunity will be for both whoever wins, and Cena himself.
Truth said:
“I hope I get picked. I think it’s awesome man. I think it’s awesome for the person that’s going to be facing him. I think it’s awesome for him to even give that type of passing the torch off.”

Truth then hailed Cena as the “goat” in his eyes, hailing him for his impact on the wrestling industry:
“I can’t say enough humbling things about John because he’s a humble person. There’s not enough great things I can say about him. Ever since I’ve been around that locker room he’s taught me so much inside the ring, outside the ring and stayed humble.
“He stayed available, he’s like a tool that has so many different resources that can be helpful and beneficial to a lot of people if you use it or if you just go to him.”
“When you talk about the word goat and you don’t call yourself that, you let the audience decide who’s a goat, and he’s one. He’s definitely the goat in my eyes, I think a lot of people’s eyes.
“He’s taken WWE to a whole different level. When you talk about impacts that the greats have left: Ric Flair and Hogan and Dusty Rhodes, John Cena has left a hell of an impression, impact and his stamp on the word, the name and the industry of professional wrestling.”
