Bronson Reed made his return to WWE back in December, when he helped The Miz defeat Dexter Lumis in a Ladder match.
Reed was released from WWE back in August 2021, where he went on to wrestle in multiple different companies, including NJPW and IMPACT.
Reed (then as JONAH) took part in last year’s G1 Climax, where he scored a shocking win over Kazuchika Okada, before Okada went on to defeat him in the rematch at the NJPW Declaration of Power show, his final match before returning to WWE.
Speaking with John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Reed discussed his matches with Okada, as well as saying he hopes to have a rubber match with him one day, potentially in WWE.
He said:
“It’s pretty much day-by-day (was when I was discovering how my G1 run would go). Japan’s a bit of its own world in the way that they operate and they do things and I think it’s very much — it’s not like WWE and some of these places, they have a set idea for six months in time whereas in Japan, I think they very much go off of what you do in the ring.
“They’re waiting to see what I could do, how I’m presented to the crowd, how they feel about me and stuff like that and then it sort of moves from there so, yeah, I wasn’t 100 percent sure about the (Kazuchika) Okada match but then when it happened, I was very happy and I’ve had the two matches with him now, we’re one a piece.
“Hopefully, there will be a rubber match somewhere down the road. I say hopefully, maybe under the WWE banner.”
Reed was one of six men taking part in the Elimination Chamber match for the United States Championship on last night’s Elimination Chamber event.
Okada was also in action last night, defending his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against legendary rival Hiroshi Tanahashi at the NJPW Battle in the Valley show.
