Last week, it emerged that Jinder Mahal had to undergo surgery for a knee injury he suffered and would be out of action for another prolonged period of time. This came just a few weeks after Mahal returned after ten months out through injury.
Speaking of Mahal, WrestleTalk’s Louis Dangoor has been able to exclusively report that there were plans in place to have Mahal feud with his former stablemate, Drew McIntyre, over the WWE Championship, so this really came at the worst time for him.
Well it seems like Raw stars aren’t the only ones getting injured at the moment, as SmackDown’s Elias is set to be out of action for a number of months with a rather nasty injury.
On the 05/29 episode of SmackDown, Elias was involved with a hit-and-run angle that started SmackDown, and it appears that this controversial segment was booked to write the former NXT star off of TV for the foreseeable future.
It was announced on SmackDown that Elias had suffered broken ribs and a torn pectoral muscle, and it appears like part of this is actually true. Dave Meltzer is reporting that while the broken ribs are part of a storyline, Elias has suffered a torn pec.
There is no word on when he picked up this injury, but Elias’ last match was a first-round win in the Intercontinental Championship tournament over King Corbin on the 05/15 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, so it is likely that he picked up the injury here.
It seems like it isn’t only WWE stars who are getting injured at the moment, as an AEW star has revealed that he is out of action after going under the knife at some point last week. You can find out who by clicking here.
