WWE star Jack Gallagher mocks CM Punk’s MMA career

I think most would agree that CM Punk’s career in mixed martial arts hasn’t exactly showcased the former WWE Champion in a positive light. Many fans and critics feel that Punk doesn’t belong in MMA, an opinion seemingly shared by 205 Live star Jack Gallagher.

According to a report by Cageside Seats, Gallagher was asked if he would like to go one on one with CM Punk and replied dismissively: “In an MMA fight? At this point that would be like bullying.”

This isn’t the first time Gallagher has taken a shot at Punk’s MMA career.

When Dana White announced that he would give the straight edge star one more chance back in January, the 205 Live competitor said: “Doesn’t have an opponent. I have two minutes to spare”, which was an obvious jab at Punk’s first UFC fight against Mickey Gall, which he lost in 2:14.

Accomplished fighter

Before Gallagher debuted in professional wrestling back in 2006, The Gentleman of 205 Live was an MMA fighter in Manchester, England. Going by the name Oliver “Jack” Claffey (his real name), the lightweight fighter won his debut fight against Cesar Valencia via armbar.

In his final MMA fight in April 2016, Gallagher picked up another win against Stefan Cowley via guillotine choke (as seen in the video above). Based on the footage, it is fairly obvious that Gallagher could easily outclass Punk inside the octagon. Hell, the 205 Live star could easily beat Punk’s conqueror Mike Jackson.

When it comes to Punk, the former WWE Champion has stated in an interview on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show that he isn’t ruling out another mixed martial arts fight, despite the fact that Dana White has made it abundantly clear he will not fight under the UFC banner again.

“I don’t think it’s UFC or bust, but I’m in a weird position,” Punk said. “There’s other places out there, but it’s just like, ‘Would I go? Should I go?’ ‘Deserves’ has nothing to do with it, but I just look at everything like it boils my oyster and I’m not good enough to kind of pick and choose.

I’m brutally honest. It probably doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to fight in the UFC again, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
