Tyler Breeze was revealed at Ricochet’s mystery opponent on Wednesday’s edition of NXT. NXT General Manager William Regal had scheduled a match where Ricochet would defend the NXT North American Championship against a mystery opponent.
This is Tyler Breeze’s first appearance on NXT TV since he was called up to the main roster in 2015. Despite his best efforts, Breeze lost to Ricochet following a Michinoku Driver.
Breeze and Ricochet had a back and forth main event match. Breeze showed off more of the fully-formed character work that he was known for prior to his ascent to the main roster, as he freaked out at the referee for touching him when the ref initialized a rope-break. The finish came as Ricochet caught the Beauty Shot and hit the Michinoku Driver for the win. Following the match, Breeze and Ricochet shook hands and Mauro Ranallo proclaimed that Ricochet would hold the belt for the rest of 2018.
Tyler Breeze has been appearing on NXT house shows sporadically throughout 2018. This has been part of WWE‘s initiative to feature main roster stars on the NXT house shows as a way to sell tickets. Earlier this year, Breeze wrestled Adam Cole for the NXT North American Championship twice and also wrestled Ricochet for the title as well.
Breeze is currently wrestling in WWE Main Event tapings as his tag team partner Fandango recovers from injury.
