A WWE star ended up missing today’s August 22 episode of SmackDown in Dublin, Ireland due to hilarious travel mishap.
Among the matches advertised for the show today, which is taking place live earlier than normal due to it being in Ireland, was Aleister Black vs R-Truth.
However, after Black made his entrance, a video from Truth appeared on the screens in the arena.
Truth revealed that he had accidentally flown to Dublin, Georgia rather than Dublin, Ireland and wasn’t able to make the show.
This is of course just another in a long list of examples of comedy errors the R-Truth character has made, which is another example of the company going back in that direction with him rather than the seriousness of ‘Ron Killings’ – or at least some kind of split personality where he shows both sides.
As far as whether this was legitimately the plan all along and WWE advertised the match knowing it wasn’t going to happen, or whether there was another reason Truth missed the show and this was done as a cover, is unknown as of this writing.
At the end of his video, Truth said he’d contacted a friend who’d be happy to fight Aleister Black in his place, which ended up being Damian Priest.
Black and Priest then brawled but no official match began.
