A WWE star has openly mocked the ‘Ring General’ Gunther following a recent media appearance promoting 2024’s WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, PA.
The Intercontinental Champion appeared at Lincoln Financial Field – the host stadium for WrestleMania 40 – for the Philadelphia Eagles’ pre-season game against the Cleveland Browns alongside fellow WWE stars Grayson Waller and Trick Williams.
In reflection of his first NFL experience, Gunther spoke of the impressive spectacle and athletes, however, in a justly move for a European, threw some slander towards America’s national sport.
He tweeted:
My first NFL experience.
Incredible athletes, more advertisement than competition, more stop and go than the traffic on the way there. I refuse to call it Football.
Incredible Stadium, very much suited for the best Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion of all time.
Thank you.
Never to miss a chance to roast his former rival, Sheamus also took to Twitter to question GUNTHER’s fashion decisions on the night, particularly his lack of socks, humorously replying to the post:
I know a guy that can get you a good deal on socks
Slandering the ‘Ring General’ over social media has seemingly become one of the ‘Celtic Warrior’s favorite things to do in recent weeks, calling him names in a August 12 post and remarking that the IC Champ peaked with their rivalry in a post on August 6.
Also, after Gunther posted a new dramatic profile pic on August 13, Sheamus decided to have some fun, posting several mock-up versions of the same picture, albeit heavily edited to give the Austrian a massive chin, forehead and changing his expression to make him look very upset.
Clearly the Irishman is still angling for that eventual one-on-one rematch between the two from September 2022’s Clash at the Castle, something that is also at the top of many fans wish-lists also, potentially even for next year’s WrestleMania in Philadelphia.
