A WWE star has received a name change following their participation on WWE LFG: Legends & Future Greats Season One.
Last night’s WWE Evolve show saw the debut of WWE LFG prospect Troy Yearwood, albeit under a brand new name.
Taking on It’s Gal (Gal Barkay), Yearwood was instead competing as Jamar Hampton for the very first time.
Hampton announced the name change in a promo ahead of the match, in which he stated that it was time to begin a new chapter in his career.
The change would prove to be a successful one, as Hampton picked up the win in his WWE Evolve debut.
Hampton’s debut comes over a month since WWE filed to trademark the ‘Jamar Hampton’ name on April 27, with last night’s Evolve being taped two days before then on April 25 (according to Cagematch.net).
The 24-year-old was a member of ‘Team Mickie James’ during LFG Season One, however, would be eliminated from the men’s LFG Tournament in the first round by Chris Island.
That tournament would eventually be won by Jasper Troy, who unsuccessfully challenged NXT Champion Oba Femi for his title on Tuesday’s NXT (June 10).
