WWE Star Names Daniel Bryan As His One Dream Opponent

Dream matches are a big part of wrestling, not only for fans but for wrestlers as well. One such wrestler with his eyes on a dream match is Chad Gable. Gable recently revealed that his one dream opponent who is still active is Daniel Bryan.

On a recent edition of After The Bell with Corey Graves, Gable talked about his goals and who he would like to wrestle. Obviously, Bryan is at the top of his list. Here is the quote, courtesy of WrestleZone:

“I’m not gonna say, ‘three months from now, I should be Universal Champion,’ because I don’t think that we make those kinds of jumps immediately. I do see that for myself long-term because you have to or else what are you doing? But I am very happy that I stayed on SmackDown because we have the Intercontinental title, which I think would be a great starting point for me as a singles guy.

I want to get in that mix. I want to get in the mix with the guys that hold that title, that defend it all the time, and we know who I’m talking about. There’s guys like [Daniel] Bryan on our show, who I have not had a chance to wrestle yet on TV, especially in a singles match. He’s like my dream opponent that’s still wrestling. Like before he’s done, and I don’t know how long he has left or how long he plans on wrestling [but] before he’s done, I want to have that match with Bryan, whether it’s for the IC title — whatever it’s for. I want to have that match with stakes on it and I can show the world what I’m capable of.”

Gable has competed on and off as a singles competitor since 2017. His American Alpha tag partner Jason Jordan was moved to Raw and Gable was soon aligned with Shelton Benjamin. Since then he has had little success as a singles competitor, being saddled with the Shorty G gimmick for the last year.

Now, with Daniel Bryan looking to focus on elevating young talent, maybe we will see them finally compete.
