WWE Star’s New Ring Name Confirmed

A recent WWE signing has confirmed her new ring name following her debut on last week’s episode of NXT.

The June 30 episode of NXT saw the anticipated debut of Nikki Blackheart, who was previously confirmed to have signed with WWE on May 20, alongside Mason Rook, Lacey Simon and Marcus Brown.

Blackheart made an immediate impact on the Tuesday night brand by laying out former NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley, however, the debut did lead to some questions from fans regarding which name she was set to use in the company.

Much like past NXT arrivals Blake Monroe and Ricky Saints, commentary did not refer to Blackheart by name, and the YouTube upload of her debut also did not name her outright.

Despite this however, WWE seemingly confirmed that ‘Reina Volcan’ was the new name set to be given to Blackheart as the video of her debut on the company’s website used that name in its URL, with this also coming after WWE filed a trademark for it with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Ahead of tonight’s July 7 episode of NXT, we now have confirmation that Reina Volcan is in fact Nikki Blackheart’s new official name in WWE, as she took to Twitter to bid farewell to her past self and open up a new chapter in her career.

She wrote:

Nikki Blackheart, thank you for one hell of a ride.

When I first chose the name, I remember asking my coach Gangrel what he thought. He had been part of The Blackhearts in Japan, so his opinion meant a lot. He didn’t hesitate. He told me, “Do it.” Then said, “Just make sure you represent it well.”

From that day on, I did my best to live up to those words.

My gear girl, Chelsea, made me this top a while ago, and I could never find the “perfect” time to wear it. Turns out, today was the perfect time.

Thank you to everyone who helped put Nikki Blackheart on the map, and for all the love and support you’ve shown me throughout this journey. I’ll never take it for granted.

On to new beginnings.

P.S. It’s not “Queen Volcano” or “Queen of Volcanoes.” It’s Reina Volcán… not everything needs to be translated.

Tatum Paxley To Pass The NXT Torch Ahead Of Main Roster Move?

As soon as Tatum Paxley dropped the WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship to Zaria on the June 9 episode of NXT, fans anticipated that a main roster call-up was inbound.

Fan captured footage after that show even captured what appeared to be Tatum giving a goodbye to the fans inside the Performance Center, however, just one week later she was back on TV to continue her feud with Zaria.

Further losses to Zaria at NXT Great American Bash and then Kelani Jordan on June 30 again seemingly suggested the end for Paxley on the brand she’s spent five years at, however, the attack from Reina Volcan that came afterwards has once again suggested that she may be set to stick around in NXT.

With big things predicted to be in Volcan’s future, and Paxley left with little else to do but be called up to Raw or SmackDown, we should see a passing of the torch moment if their feud does indeed progress further into the Summer.

Much like NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, Paxley has paid her dues in NXT and has more than earned a shot at the big time, but she could certainly help give Volcan’s career a major boost on the way out.
