A WWE star has opened up on their decision to relinquish their championship to a fellow stablemate this week on television.
With the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge set to take place tonight on NXT Deadline, one of the names in the match is DarkState member Dion Lennox, who was chosen by John Cena for the match.
Lennox reigned as an NXT Tag Team Champion when he was added to the match, but with him chasing singles success, Dion relinquished his NXT Tag Team Championship on this week’s NXT, handing the title over to Saquon Shugars, who will now serve as one half of the champions alongside Osiris Griffin.
Speaking on the NXT Deadline Countdown, Lennox opened up on his decision to relinquish the title.
He said:
“I want DarkState to control all of NXT, not just the tag division. We won Tag Team Gold already, so why not bring some singles gold into the family, and it wouldn’t be fair to me or my brothers if I divided my attention. But we do things differently in DarkState, when one eats, we all eat.
“My success is Saquon’s success. Quon’s success is Cutty’s success. Cutty’s success is O’s success. I trust Quon and Big O to hold it down while I handle business, and I’ll prove John Cena right on Saturday by winning the Iron Survivor.”
