WWE Star Explains Personal Reason Upcoming Championship Match Is Important WWE

A WWE star has explained the personal reason why their upcoming championship match this weekend is so important.

WWE NXT is set to host Vengeance Day 2026 this weekend, which will be headlined by an NXT Championship match between Joe Hendry and Ricky Saints.

Hendry captured the NXT Championship in a seven man Ladder match last month, knocking Saints off the Ladder to win the title.

Speaking to the Sportster, Saints opened up on why this match with Hendry is more important, and his personal issues with Hendry ‘reducing’ his work at elevating the NXT brand.

He said:

“Personally speaking I didn’t take Joe Hendry very seriously in the Ladder match, and I should have, that’s my fault and that’s okay, we learn from these things.

“To become two-time NXT Champion is a very big deal, not a lot of people are in that special group, and I wanna be in that group, because I feel like the work that I’ve done for the past year to elevate this brand to the standards I hold myself to is very important, and I can’t let someone like Joe Hendry come and reduce that.

“That’s kind of been the story of my career, I do the work, I put in the work, I elevate it to a certain degree, only to watch other people come and burn it down.

“That ain’t gonna happen on March 7 at Vengeance Day, I can tell you that right now. I’m getting the NXT Championship back, and I’m proving once again, I’ve been telling everybody, y’all choose poorly, your choices are so bad, and you guys always regret it.”
