Following the January 17 episode, WWE SmackDown star Kevin Owens has been listed as the producer for his own match on the show.
On the January 17 edition of WWE SmackDown, Kevin Owens defeated Rey Mysterio in a first time singles match in Mysterio’s hometown of San Diego.
Post match, Owens attempted to deliver a package piledriver to Mysterio until Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made the save.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update on the January 17 SmackDown, noting that Kevin Owens was listed as one of the producers for his bout against Rey Mysterio.
Alongside Owens, former WWE United States Champion Bobby Roode was also listed as a producer for the match with Rey Mysterio.
On January 18, Owens posted a photo of himself shaking hands and bowing to Mysterio at a house show to pay tribute to how his first meeting with the legendary luchador meant to him.
Kevin Owens will face Cody Rhodes in a Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Saturday, February 1 at the Royal Rumble 2025 premium live event.
