WWE Star Recalls Randy Orton Being ‘Pissed’ With WrestleMania Match WWE

A WWE star has recalled the WrestleMania match that left 14-time world champion Randy Orton feeling “pissed”.

At WrestleMania 35 in 2019, two of the very best of their generation went at it in their first pay-per-view singles encounter, as The Phenomenal AJ Styles took on The Viper Randy Orton.

While the match understandably had high expectations from fans, many within New Jersey’s MetLife stadium were left disappointed due to being unable to see the action inside the ring due to a lighting issue in the stadium.

Speaking during a Fanatics Live signing uploaded to UpUpDownDown, Styles explained that both he and Orton were severely angered by the issue and its affect on the bout.

Styles said:

“That’s definitely one to forget because the lights were blinding people.

We were supposed to go two or one, and then, of course, Brock (Brock Lesnar) gets to do anything he wants, so he switched it. By the time we went out there, the lights had come on and blinded half the stadium.

“I was pissed. You know who was even more pissed than me? Randy (Randy Orton). I knew I didn’t have to get mad if Randy was mad.”

Thankfully for both men, they would get the chance to face off many more times on WWE TV following their WrestleMania 35 bout.

Most recently Styles and Orton both challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the 2024 Royal Rumble event along with LA Knight.

Since then Knight and Styles progressed into a singles feud heading into WrestleMania 40, while Orton is set to face off with Kevin Owens and Logan Paul in a United States Championship three-way.
