Top WWE Star Makes CM Punk AEW Reference After SmackDown Spot WWE/AEW

A top WWE star has made reference to CM Punk and Jack Perry’s altercation at AEW All In London 2023 after a spot on today’s SmackDown (March 28).

In the penultimate TV taping of WWE’s European Tour, SmackDown emanated from London’s 02 Arena and featured none other than the United Kingdom’s only WWE Champion Drew McIntyre in a starring role.

After confronting Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton during the show’s opening segment, McIntyre was booked for a match with The Viper later in the night, which McIntyre won with thanks to some interference from Kevin Owens.

Understandably after inflicting a rare pinfall loss on Orton, McIntyre was in a jovial mood backstage afterwards, however, The Scottish Warrior’s high spirits didn’t last long as he was attacked by Damian Priest before he could exit the arena.

After being ridiculed by McIntyre during his promo earlier in the night, Priest delivered a South of Heaven to his rival through the windshield of a car, something CM Punk found greatly amusing as he walked past.

Posting to Twitter after SmackDown, McIntyre wrote:

That was real glass…

It got in my eye.

The “real glass” line was famously said by Jack Perry during his match at AEW All In London 2023 after he suplexed his opponent HOOK through a car windshield, something that was in reference to Punk and his unwillingness to allow Perry to use real glass during a spot on AEW Collision.

Perry’s comments led to Punk confronting him before his own match with Samoa Joe at the same show, with the pair being involved in an altercation that would eventually see Punk fired by AEW.
