WWE has officially removed a former champion from its active roster after they took part in their retirement match this week.
On April 29 at a Sendai Girls show named in her honor, Meiko Satomura had her official retirement match.
She teamed up with protege Manami in a win over Aja Kong and Chihiro Hashimoto.
Satomura had been on a retirement tour in Japan, which included three WWE live event matches in July 2024.
She’s a former NXT UK Women’s Champion – the last person to hold the title prior to it being retired by Mandy Rose – with a reign of 451 days.
Despite not having a match in WWE since July 2024, and not having a televised one since NXT Roadblock in March 2023, Satomura was still listed on WWE’s ‘current’ roster page.
However, that changed today as she’s now been moved to the alumni section of the roster following her retirement.
It’s believed that despite her in-ring absence and farewell tour in Japan, she’s still been somewhat involved at NXT behind-the-scenes in some kind of trainer role or similar – we’ll keep you posted with any further updates on her status.
