WWE Star Responds To CM Punk Callout For World Championship Match WWE

A WWE star has responded to CM Punk calling them out as a potential challenger for his World Heavyweight Championship.

Opening last night’s episode of Raw was CM Punk, two nights after winning the World Title at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

In his celebratory promo, CM Punk named some talents on the roster who he’d be excited to have step up to him and potentially challenge him for the title.

Among those names was Sheamus, who has now reacted to Punk’s comments.

On the WWE Raw Recap podcast, Sheamus responded to Punk, recalling their previous matches 13 years ago and how he’s “well up” for going at it again. He said:

“He said it himself, he wants to have a banger.

“I’ve faced Punk a couple of times, I could be wrong but I think it’s twice. I think we wrestled on the first ever Main Event show that was on, and I think we wrestled in a Lumberjack match as well when I was World Champion and he was WWE Champion, so I think we’ve wrestled when we were both WWE Champion and World Champion.

“Obviously he went away and I’ve stayed the course – peaks and valleys, I’ve endured it, come up, come back, I’ve rode the storm the whole time.

“He’s proving age doesn’t matter. Age is nothing. Age is just a number. He’s out there, he’s World Champion, he’s probably a year younger than me I think, but I’d be well up for that. I would absolutely be well up for that.

“You don’t just have one goal, you have many goals. IC Champ, Cena’s last match, and getting in there with Big Phil AKA CM Punk and putting on a bleedin’ banger.

“I’m excited, I’m not shying away from anything. I just want people to know that. I just want fans and everyone to realize, I just love the ride. And the love that we get from the WWE Universe has been incredible.

“There was a time… babyface Sheamus in 2012, there was very little love for big babyface Sheamus in 2012 and I was fighting the tide the whole time, but it’s so weird the way the whole thing changed.

“As long as the fans know that you care, you’re there, that they matter, that you involve them in everything, and you give everything you possibly have, they’ll give you the love back.

“That’s what I love about our fans, they know everybody is breaking their bollocks, breaking their back for them to put on the best show possible. I’ve tried to prove that time and time again.

“My mentality is this – every time I go out there, I go out there with the intention of earning every fan’s respect at the show. I’ve gotta earn their respect every single week.”

Sheamus and Punk did face each other on the first ever episode of WWE Main Event in October 2012, and then again on Raw in a Lumberjack match a couple of weeks later.

They’re both 47, but Sheamus’ birthday is in January and Punk’s is in October, so Sheamus is nine months older.
