WWE’s Meiko Satomura has addresses the status of her upcoming retirement match, which takes place later this month.
The former NXT UK Women’s Champion is due to retire on April 29, but she still has a pretty big decision to make – exactly what her retirement match is going to be.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, she said:
“I thought I would be able to see it about three months ago, but I still can’t see it. It’s less than a month until my retirement match, but I still can’t see it.
“I want to carefully select the wrestler I will entrust my future to and then make a decision. I still don’t know if it will be a singles match or a tag team match.”
Satomura has been wrestling in Japan on something of a ‘retirement tour’ of late, most recently in a match against Minoru Suzuki.
She was recently shouted out on WWE NXT as Roxanne Perez debuted a knee drop move in Satomura’s honor, which Satomura thanked her for on social media.
Perez was Satomura’s last WWE TV opponent in a match that took place on NXT in March 2023.
Satomura then had three untelevised matches during WWE’s tour of Japan in July 2024, the last of which was a WWE Women’s Championship match against Bayley.
All indications are that Satomura still at least has some kind of coaching deal with WWE, and she’s still listed on the official roster page.
