WWE Star Returns After Five Months Away

WWE Star Returns After Five Months Away WWE

A WWE star has made their return to television after five months away to close tonight’s NXT Deadline event.

Former NXT North American Champion Tony D’Angelo has not been seen on NXT television since July, where he picked up the win in a three-way with Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino to end the civil war within the D’Angelo Family.

Following the match, D’Angelo appeared in a backstage segment the following week, where someone was seen approaching him in a diner before the camera abruptly cut off as Tony looked at the person in a reference to the ending scene of the Sopranos.

It had been speculated that the segment may have been the last we saw of Tony D’Angelo on NXT television ahead of a potential main roster call-up, but Tony has now returned to NXT.

On last week’s NXT show, Ava was delivered a box featuring some black fabric, which we would find out tonight was a torn up hat of Tony’s, as well as a shot of a bridge appearing on the screen behind Ava, Oba Femi and Ricky Saints during their contract signing.

Following tonight’s Iron Survivor main event, which saw Je’von Evans pick up the win, Je’von and Oba had a staredown ahead of their title match at New Years Evil.

However, the lights would end up going black, before a shot of a man walking on a bridge appeared on the tron before cutting off.

Tony D’Angelo would then appear behind Je’von in the ring, laying him out before dropping the rest of his torn up hat on Je’von’s body to close the show.

The Women’s Iron Survivor match was won by Kendal Grey, who will challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship at New Years Evil.
