A WWE star has returned to action during tonight’s June 16 episode of Raw in Green Bay after over a year out of action.
Back in May 2024, multi-time champion Asuka underwent surgery after dealing with a knee injury for some time.
Her last match saw her and Kairi Sane lose the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at Backlash in France.
Amid her absence, Damage CTRL have parted ways, although Kairi Sane and IYO SKY have resumed a loose association after Sane’s own recent return from injury.
Tonight on Raw, Asuka made her comeback in a four-way match in the quarter-final (first) round of the Queen of the Ring tournament.
She made her entrance tonight with her original WWE theme music, The Future by CFO$, as opposed to def rebel’s You Can’t Hide which she’d been using for the past couple of years.
Asuka’s opponents in tonight’s four-way were Ivy Nile, Stephanie Vaquer and Raquel Rodriguez.
It was Asuka herself who picked up the win, pinning Raquel Rodriguez after Rhea Ripley interfered to cost Rodriguez.
Asuka will now face Alexa Bliss in the semi-finals – the other semi-final is Roxanne Perez vs Jade Cargill.
The final will take place at WWE Night of Champions on June 28, with the ultimate tournament winner receiving a world title match at SummerSlam.
