‘I Don’t Know If I’m Ready’ – WWE NXT Star Reveals Doubts Over Potential Main Roster Call-Up WWE

A WWE NXT star has shared their doubts regarding a potential main roster call-up after putting in several show-stealing displays on SmackDown in recent weeks.

Just under five months after making his debut on SmackDown on May 30 for a tag team match alongside Rey Fenix against Los Garza, Je’Von Evans re-appeared on the blue brand to answer SamI Zayn’s WWE United States Championship Open Challenge on the September 26 episode.

The match saw an electric response from the fans in Orlando, with “The Young OG” receiving widespread praise for his performance from fans and veteran names in the industry such as Jim Cornette.

One week later Evans made another appearance on SmackDown, once again teaming with Rey Fenix to take on Los Garza, with SmackDown General manager Nick Aldis telling Evans that he had a bright future on Friday nights and they should “stay in touch”.

Speaking with the Black Rasslin’ Podcast, Evans was asked about a potential main roster call-up from NXT, admitting that he’s unsure if he’s ready to leave NXT as he feels he has more to accomplish on the brand however, if WWE higher-ups such as Triple H and Shawn Michaels decided that he was ready he would seize the opportunity.

Evans said:

“Honestly I’m not sure. I feel like I can accomplish so much more. There was talks but I was just like, to this day I don’t know if I’m ready. And maybe that’s self doubt a little bit or me being nervous.

“But I just know that Triple H, Nick Aldis, they know what they’re doing. Shawn knows what he’s doing. So if they see something and they feel I’m ready then let’s catch the football and run with it.

“I think that I just want to learn as much as I can in NXT. My main goal is being the best ever in wrestling. So I feel like in NXT that’s where it starts. So I wanna learn as much as I can in NXT so by the time I get to Raw or SmackDown it’s an easy transition, I know what I know and I’m automatically up there with the top dogs and prove myself that I can hang with the top dogs.”

Evans then said winning the NXT Championship is something he needs to do, but he’s keen to grasp whatever opportunity presents itself on the brand.
