Roman Reigns has been the top dog on SmackDown since returning at SummerSlam. Having won the Universal Championship in quick fashion, no one has been able to stop Reigns since.
Now, Daniel Bryan has stated that he is sure as hell a better wrestler than Roman Reigns. Appearing on the Christmas Day edition of Talking Smack, Bryan made a promise that he will be Reigns in the near future. Here is the quote from Wrestling Inc.:
“Paul, I don’t lay claim to being better than many people at certain things. But I’ll tell you this: I am a better fighter than Roman Reigns. And I’m sure as hell a better wrestler than Roman Reigns. And if I win the Royal Rumble and face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, and he’s still the champion, I will beat him for that championship. Here’s another thing: If he’s not champion somewhere down the line, I’m going to beat him down, anyway.”
Reigns and Bryan have a history together dating back to 2015. Reigns defeated Bryan at Fastlane 2015 to advance to the main event of WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar. To date, this is the last singles match the two have had.
The two did team for a short period in late 2019, however, they have been kept apart since Reigns returned.
