A WWE star has opened up on spending an extra year in NXT last year ahead of their recent call up to the main roster.
A number of NXT stars recently made their way up to the main roster, which included former two-time NXT Champion Trick Williams, who joined the SmackDown brand officially back on January 2.
Many were speculating that Trick would make his way up to WWE’s main roster back in 2025, with Trick ultimately spending the year in NXT, floating between both NXT and TNA.
Speaking to 107.7 The Bone, Trick opened up on spending an extra year in NXT last year, and his experience with TNA.
He said:
“God’s timing man, everything happens when it’s supposed to, and I’m grateful it did. I became your TNA, sorry, your TrickNA World Champion, in that extra year there, and that was very necessary, putting a whole different caliber.
“The confidence, charisma through the roof, that just comes from reps and being in high pressure situations, so I’m grateful for my experience at TNA, I’m grateful for that extra year, and that’s why I’m here balling and shining like I am now.”

Trick was a part of the four-way number one contenders match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24, with Sami Zayn winning to earn a shot at Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, which Drew would win.
Trick will face off with Rey Fenix on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
