WWE Star Had ‘No Idea’ Main Roster Call-Up Was Planned WWE

A WWE star has admitted that their “stomach dropped” upon learning of their main roster call-up from NXT.

Of the highest profile NXT to main roster call-ups in this year’s WWE Draft, few have had as immediate an impact than former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria.

Not only has Valkyria been involved in Raw’s Women’s World Title feud between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan, but she has also progressed to the finals of the 2024 Queen of the Ring tournament.

Ahead of the final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King & Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event (May 25), Valkyria spoke with TalkSport and discussed her move from NXT.

Valkyria admitted that she had no idea that she was set to be called up to Raw ahead of time, with her gut instinct telling her that she would be remaining on Tuesday nights.

Valkyira explained:

“I was sitting in NXT a month ago and now I’m sitting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

“It has been absolutely wild and trying to keep up is insane, but I’m almost like: ‘I’m glad I don’t have too much time to think about it.’ I had no choice but to get straight into it.

“I was focused on regaining my NXT Women’s Championship and the draft was coming up. I suppose I’d thought about [being drafted], but I usually trust my gut instinct, and this was the first time my gut instinct has ever failed me as I honestly had no idea.

“When they called my name, I felt my stomach drop. I had no idea that was going to happen, and now I’m in Jeddah.”

Valkyria’s opponent in the Queen of the Ring final will be determined on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, with Bianca Belair taking on Nia Jax.
