An update has emerged on the possibility of a WWE star being stripped of their championship ahead of an upcoming absence.
As announced earlier this week, Liv Morgan will be taking some time away from WWE TV as she’s been cast in Neon Productions’ Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo movie.
The project is being filmed in Japan, and it’s believed Morgan has already traveled there.
Morgan is currently one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Raquel Rodriguez, which opens up the question of whether Morgan, or both of them, could be stripped of the belts if she’s set for a prolonged absence.
PWInsider Elite reports this isn’t the plan, and they will remain champions throughout Morgan’s absence.
It’s expected that Morgan will be back om WWE TV “within a month”, if not sooner than that.
Morgan and Rodriguez are now four-time Women’s Tag Team Champions together, with Rodriguez a five-time champion after previously holding the title alongside Aliyah. Rodriguez also held the now-defunct NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship twice alongside Dakota Kai.
Morgan and Rodriguez dropped the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title to Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria at WrestleMania, but then won it back the very next night on Raw.
