WWE Star Shares Honest Thoughts On Championship Loss

WWE Star Shares Honest Thoughts On Championship Loss WWE

A WWE star has shared his honest thoughts on a championship loss last year that was questioned by some fans.

Oba Femi is a two-time NXT Champion, with his first reign lasting 263 days from January 7, 2025 to September 27.

He dropped the title to Ricky Saints at No Mercy, only to win it back from Saints 70 days later at Deadline.

His second reign then lasted 31 days before he vacated the championship upon being called up to the WWE main roster.

Speaking with the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Femi has commented on whether he questioned the decision to have him drop the title, rather than just having a single longer reign without losing it.

He said:

“No. No. It’s a job. It’s a job and I am very well aware of that. Whatever the booker wants… Shawn has a vision, Triple H has a vision, and we’re all just – I hate to say it, but we’re tools to execute the vision.

“When people lose sight of that, that’s when they get caught up in their feelings and stuff like that. When I did that, I was like, ‘I’m sure there’s a good reason why,’ and I went with it, and didn’t think too much into it.”

Femi also addressed the fact that the end of his second reign came with him vacating the title instead of losing it on the way to the main roster. He explained:

“It feels very unique. It lets me know where the company sees me caliber-wise, where I am in the pecking order, which is really reassuring.

“Very, very short list. I believe it’s me, Asuka and the War Raiders, if I’m not mistaken (that have vacated NXT titles before being called up instead of losing them).

“It’s a privilege to be on that list. Not everyone gets to be on it, and it’s for a very good reason.

“I have to show everybody coming up to the main roster now – that wasn’t just done for anybody, you don’t just have any regular old call-up on your hands, you have a superstar here.”
