The WrestleMania status of Kofi Kingston has been thrown up in the air after reports of him suffering an injury at this week’s SmackDown show.
Kingston has suffered an ankle injury, which he confirmed in a video he posted to Twitter earlier today.
Kingston is slated to be a part of an Intercontinental Championship qualifier match on next week’s SmackDown show, which he may no longer able to be a part of.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Kingston’s injury, and how WWE is hoping they can avoid him having to have surgery.
He said:
“If he has surgery, from what I understand they’re hopeful of avoiding. If he has surgery, obviously it’s gonna be a while (before he’s cleared). If he doesn’t have surgery it will be less time.”
Continuing on, Meltzer noted that Kingston will ‘almost surely’ not be able to make next week’s five-way match.
Speaking about Kingston’s status for WrestleMania, Meltzer added:
“I don’t want to say 100 percent no but it will be touch and go if he can make it for WrestleMania if he doesn’t get surgery.”
We wish Kingston a full and complete revovery from his injury.
