WWE Star Turned Down RETRIBUTION Role

Mercedes Martinez was unceremoniously removed from RETRIBUTION without any real explanation, and Fightful Select has now revealed that Martinez actually told higher-ups that she didn’t want to be part of the group.

The site is reporting that Mercedes Martinez made it clear to those within WWE that she didn’t want to be part of the RETRIBUTION group, and was moved back to NXT. This was before the talent agreed to new roster deals.

The report goes on to say that while the idea of replacing Martinez with another female NXT star was thrown around, there are currently no plans for a female star to join the RETRIBUTION faction, as of the end of last month.

At this time, the reasons behind Martinez not wanting to be part of RETRIBUTION are not known, as are the reasons that WWE opted not to replace her with another female NXT star. For any potential updates, stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com.

Since appearing on Raw as a part of the faction, Martinez has not appeared on NXT TV and there have been no teases or video packages hyping up her return. At this time, NXT’s plans for the veteran are also unclear.
