A WWE star is undergoing surgery today (April 28) after suffering an injury on the April 18 episode of SmackDown.
Just one day prior to his scheduled match with El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 Night One, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio suffered an injury whilst competing in a six-man tag team match alongside Rey Fenix and Dragon Lee against American Made.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Rey Mysterio announced that he is undergoing surgery today for a torn adductor muscle at Andrew Sports Medicine in Birmingham, AL.
There is currently no timeline for Mysterio’s recovery, however, in the video he promised that he’d keep fans posted after he was out of surgery.
After Mysterio’s injury, Rey Fenix stepped in as a replacement at WrestleMania for the match with Americano, in what was also the former AEW star’s debut at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
However, it was Chad Gable’s alter ego who picked up the win in the match, hiding a metal plate within his mask and delivering a diving headbutt to Fenix.
We at WrestleTalk wish Mysterio a safe and speedy recovery.
