WWE star Dolph Ziggler was told he would never be World Heavyweight Champion.
Ziggler recently spoke with Sportskeeda, where he opened up about cashing in Money in the Bank. He said he was told he wouldn’t be World Champion and if he won it, it would only be for the moment. Here is the quote, courtesy of Wrestle Zone:
“I wasn’t supposed to be World Heavyweight Champion, I was told I wouldn’t be World Heavyweight Champion. I was told ‘if you cash this [Money In The Bank contract) in, it’s just for the moment and we’ll see ya later’…but the crowds made that special moment”.
Dolph Ziggler cashed in Money in the Bank to win the World Heavyweight Championship the day after WrestleMania 29 in 2013. He lost the title soon after, dropping it back to Alberto Del Rio at Payback.
This was technically Ziggler’s second reign as champion, having held the title for just minutes in early 2011. Despite these two reigns, Ziggler was never pushed as a World Champion and hasn’t held a top title in WWE since.
