Two WWE stars have received high praise for recent matches after stepping up when another star was injured and plans needed to change.
After the Viking Raiders were feuding with the New Day and Erik became injured, in lieu of ending the program, the feud pivoted towards singles action.
When Ivar took on Kofi Kingston in an impressive match, it seemingly not only impressed fans, but also personnel backstage in WWE.
According to Fightful Select, both Kofi Kingston and Ivar have been receiving “high marks” as of late, and their first match in particular had praise “heaped on it”.
Specifically Ivar, who has had singles matches so rarely, was said to have “impressed many backstage”.
Ivar would go on to have another singles match, this time against Xavier Woods, and then a Viking Rules match with Kofi Kingston, that were also praised backstage.
The report notes that the performances “caused WWE to remain open minded” about continuing to use Ivar in singles matches.
Erik is reportedly expected to be out of action for at least six months.
