A WWE star’s “high” salary reportedly played a part in their release from the company.
On Friday, May 2, 15 WWE stars from the main roster and NXT were confirmed to have been released from the company.
On Saturday two more names from NXT – Dani Palmer and Shotzi confirmed their departures – with the latter’s coming by way of WWE opting not to renew her contract, rather than being released.
Among the wave of roster cuts, perhaps the most prominent star to have been let go is former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman, who has been a regular presence on WWE TV since being re-signed by the company in 2022.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed Strowman’s departure, reporting that his “high” salary played a part in WWE’s decision to let him go.
Meltzer said:
“He is the one that, the salary was high. One person told me that they felt he was paid more than how they were using him I guess is the best way to put it, but salary played a part in this.”

Strowman’s high salary was previously reported to have been a factor in his 2021 WWE release, where he was said to have been earning over $1 million per year.
Shortly after the news of his WWE departure was reported, Strowman took to social media in reaction to the news – click here for full details.
