A name change for a WWE tag team has been confirmed as both members made their returns from injury tonight.
Before continuing to read this story, be aware it contains spoilers for next week’s October 14 episode of WWE Raw, which was taped in advance tonight, October 7.
A match taped for next week’s Raw saw the return of Erik and Ivar, the Viking Raiders.
Only they’re not the Viking Raiders anymore, but have actually gone back to the War Raiders name they used when they first joined NXT back in 2018.
When they were called up to the WWE main roster in 2019, Vince McMahon initially renamed them the Viking Experience, but that only lasted a week before it was changed to the Viking Raiders – now, they’re the War Raiders again.
Also to confirm, the duo have maintained the Ivar and Erik singular names they were given upon their main roster call-up, rather than going back to Hanson and Rowe which they used in NXT.
So, they’re now Ivar and Erik, the War Raiders. They also brought back their old ‘War’ entrance theme by CFO$.
They picked up the win in their match against Alpha Academy that will air next week. It was Erik’s first match since September 2023, and Ivar’s first since April 2024.
