A WWE star’s pay was reportedly cut by around $200,000 when he agreed to a contract extension that is about to expire.
Among the numerous WWE departures recently is Ridge Holland, whose deal won’t be renewed when it expires on November 14.
Holland had been working in NXT since late 2023 after a couple of years on the main roster following his initial call-up in 2021.
There has been a lot of talk surrounding WWE’s decision to not renew Holland’s contract, because he just underwent surgery for a Lisfranc injury and won’t be able to wrestle for about six months, so he’s in a position where he won’t have guaranteed pay for that time, and can’t wrestle.
Some new details have now emerged regarding his departure, with Bryan Alvarez reporting on Wrestling Observer Live that it was Holland’s own decision to move back to NXT to try to rebuild his career, and WWE actually cut his pay so he wasn’t making main roster money anymore.
Alvarez said:
“When Ridge Holland went to NXT, that was Ridge Holland’s call. He wanted to go back and try to rebuild his career.
“They actually cut his contract. He was making NXT money. He wasn’t one of those people making main roster money in NXT. He was making NXT money.
“Do you know what NXT money is? We actually all know what NXT money is because of what happened with Jazmyn Nyx.”

Jazmyn Nyx recently left WWE after she rejected an offer to re-sign as she wasn’t happy with the pay, which was said to be less than $100,000 per year.
Further to the updates on Holland, Fightful Select specifically reports that he signed a one-year contract extension in November 2024 that saw his pay cut by around $200,000 – confirming Alvarez’s report that he was moved from main roster money back to NXT money.
That extension is the deal that’s about to expire in a month’s time.
