The WWE Royal Rumble takes place on February 1, 2025, and the fans are anticipating TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry in the titular men’s match.
While Hendry hasn’t officially been announced (or declared himself) for the upcoming WWE PLE, he has commented on a potential appearance saying it “would be a huge honor and privilege.”
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, members of The O.C. in WWE and former Impact World Tag Team Champions, have also commented on the possibility of Hendry in the Royal Rumble.
Speaking on the Talk’n Shop podcast, Gallows spoke about watching the live episode of TNA Impact! on January 23, 2025 and seeing Hendry as World Champion, saying:
“I turned on the first live TNA in eight years. It’s fun, you can talk about that here as WWE guys now because WWE has announced the partnership with TNA. I was thinking, ‘That’s pretty cool.’
“In the beginning, Joe Hendry comes out, he’s the new world champion. I didn’t know any of this. I just thought, ‘Well let me pop it on’.”
After Anderson asked whether TNA Wrestling had ‘pulled the trigger’ on the Scottish star, with Gallows replying that this was indeed the case, stating:
“They pulled the trigger on Joe Hendry. So now you wonder, does this feed into, and there’s speculation about this, a Joe Hendry surprise Royal Rumble appearance? I would have to think yes, correct?
“I’m wondering, how many TNA people do you think pop into that Rumble? You think it’s one guy, one girl? Do you think it’s more?”
With WWE and TNA Wrestling having recently announced a multi-year partnership, Anderson would reflect on the “amazing” opportunity it extends to stars in NXT, noting:
“This will be a lot of fun. I think the TNA/NXT, the partnership’s amazing for, you get the young guys from NXT can go work at a different territory, get a little different television experience.”
Gallows would even offer their services as liaisons between both sides of the partnership, suggesting:
“We should be the liaisons for WWE and TNA because we have so much experience in both.”
Anderson would then conclude that the opportunity to work in WWE is something that people dream of getting, saying:
“I don’t care what anybody thinks or says, any chance you get an opportunity to work with WWE, you’re getting a platform that people dream of getting.”
Hendry defeated Nic Nemeth at the January 19, 2025, TNA Genesis pay-per-view to become TNA World Champion.
The 2024 Royal Rumble saw then-TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace make her WWE debut in the women’s match.
