Stone Cold Steve Austin has opened up about the possibility of making a return to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity.
After a near two-decade retirement from wrestling, Austin made his return at WrestleMania 38 to face Kevin Owens for what would end up being a one-night-only match.
His involvement at WrestleMania didn’t end there, though, as he would get involved with Austin Theory and Vince McMahon on night two of the 2022 event.
Interest in another Stone Cold Steve Austin match has led to a hint that he may return for WrestleMania 40 if the right opportunity arises.
In a recent interview with SI Media, Austin discussed the possibility of a return in a managerial or announcer capacity, saying:
“Right now, off the top of my head, I say no, because I don’t want to put the time into living my life back on the road again. I rode that road hard. I loved that lifestyle, I worked my ass off, I put my body on the line, and I ran hard.
“Now, I’m at a place where I’m still living life. I started racing due to the fact that I met some people on the show and started racing. I work with Kawasaki Motorsports, that’s about as much traveling as I want to do is going to races on weekends and stuff like that.
“I’m happy where I’m at. I will always entertain any kind of business offer, but I spent enough time on the road and I’m just picking and choosing.
“I still want to work and I still want to be productive. I’m in the beer business. I have three beers with El Segundo Brewing Company, I work with Kawasaki, and I’ve got some other private ventures that I’m into.
“I don’t want to get out on the road again. I’ve been there and I’ve done it, and I ran hard.”
Steve Austin is currently hosting the A&E series Stone Cold Takes On America, which sees him hitting the road and taking on “an epic adventure as he redefines what life after years in the ring looks like and experiences everything he missed out on while focused on his career.”
The trailer for the series which premiered on April 30 2023 can be seen below this news story.
