Even after several people in WWE have tested positive for COVID-19, the company is still planning on running shows with real fans.
Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that the promotion plans to run venues with real fans. They note that social distancing rules will be implemented and Lakeland, Florida is a likely setting. Here is the quote from the report:
“WWE plans to run venues involving real fans, with social distancing rules implemented. Lakeland was listed as a likely landing spot in the RP Funding Center. Ring Of Honor has been to the venue several times over the past few years. A few members of the roster had heard of the plans when we inquired.”
For those wondering, the RP Funding Center was the building where the Hardys faced the Young Bucks in a ladder match prior to WrestleMania 33.
It has not been a secret that WWE wants to have an audience for SummerSlam. The status of the show has been up in the air as they have discussed moving the date and venue to a time and place where they could have an audience.
It is clear the recent outbreak at the Performance Center has not affected WWE’s thoughts on having crowds.
