Planned Opening Match For WWE SummerSlam 2025 WWE

The opening match for the first night of WWE SummerSlam has now been revealed, ahead of the August 2 premium live event.

WWE takes over MetLife Stadium on August 2 and 3 for the first ever two-night SummerSlam event.

Ahead of the first night of action, the match set to open the show has now been revealed.

Per PWInsider, the current plan is for the Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed match to open Saturday’s show.

This match will be Roman Reigns’ first since WrestleMania 41 in April, when Seth Rollins defeated Reigns and CM Punk.

WWE shared the following preview for this match.

At WrestleMania, Heyman betrayed Reigns and CM Punk with a pair of savage low blows and aligned with Seth Rollins. The Visionary soon anointed The Wiseman as The Oracle, and he helped Rollins establish a new faction with Reed and Breakker.

After Rollins got injured against LA Knight on Saturday Night’s Main Event in July, though, The OTC returned and initiated a brawl with his old friend’s associates.

He would not be alone for long, however, as Jey Uso soon charged in to help his cousin clear the ring with a double Spear on their dangerous adversaries.

Breakker and Reed have serious issues with Jey, and Breakker has claimed that Reigns is no longer relevant and that he is “The Big Dog” now, setting the stage for a can’t-miss tag bout at The Biggest Event of the Summer.

Roman Reigns has shared a final message ahead of this match, which you can read right more about right here.
