WWE Potentially Adding Show To SummerSlam Weekend Update WWE

An update has emerged on WWE potentially adding a certain show to SummerSlam weekend, ahead of this year’s historic event.

This year’s SummerSlam will be the first in the event’s history to span two nights, with WWE bringing the Biggest Party of the Summer to New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on August 2 and 3.

With it now being tradition for NXT to hold its Stand & Deliver event ahead of the first night of WrestleMania, there have been rumors swirling about a potential NXT special airing during the day on August 2.

Per WrestleVotes during a recent Backstage Pass Q&A however, there are currently no plans for NXT to have a specific special or Premium Live Event tied into SummerSlam weekend.

Noting that WWE is finalising details for a special for the end of August, WrestleVotes said:

“Yes, there is info on that. That’s a great question to start off with. No, they will not be doing anything tied into SummerSlam weekend as of now.

“They do have their own event—it will be taking place at the end of August and we’re looking to nail down the date and location for that—but no, it will not be tied into SummerSlam weekend.”

NXT will have a big presence during WWE’s “Memorial Day weekend takeover” of Tampa, Florida, hosting its Battleground PLE at the Yuengling Center on May 25, one day after Saturday Night’s Main Event.

A location change has been confirmed for an upcoming NXT event, which you can read more about right here.
