Backstage on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, a difference in opinion between tag team partners seemingly teased trouble between the duo.
The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) won the WWE Tag Team Championship from The Bloodline a couple of weeks ago straight after beating DIY in a #1 contender match.
However backstage at SmackDown tonight, Gargano approached the new champs and was very pleasant.
Johnny Gargano praised everything MCMG have done for tag team wrestling historically, and was happy that they had found success deservedly quickly in their WWE career.
While Sabin and Shelley departed the scene pleasantly, Gargano’s tag team partner Ciampa approached and demanded to know what that interaction was about.
Having an entirely different perspective, Ciampa said the Guns came to WWE to immediately steal DIY’s spot and the championship.
As Ciampa walked off, Johnny Gargano stood in place looking vaguely perplexed.
Blending the real life history between Gargano and Alex Shelley into the story, Ciampa would end up taking all his aggression after the situation out on Pretty Deadly.
Ciampa didn’t tag in Gargano into DIY’s match against Pretty Deadly, rather aggressively dominated and won alone before he walked off on his own with Gargano giving chase.
